Hey Everyone?
Is it September already? Where did the summer go? I guess now everyone is back in school and back to the grind. Sounds like fun for everyone. This week was pretty exciting for us in the new area. Lots of things happening yet at the same time a little slower than I like but some things you just can't force.
This was a big week for us. It was our first really week in the new area. We did a lot of contacting and following up on other contacts from last week. The lessons unfortunately just weren't really getting us to the goals and points we were setting for the people we were teaching. Finally on Saturday after a lot of praying and thinking
about what to do we were able to get the success we were looking for.
Saturday was the best day of the week. We were able to teach some really good lessons and really have the spirit there. We taught one boy and the sprit was super strong and after the lesson I just asked him what he was feeling and he said he was really happy and felt like he'd been born again(that’s what they call baptism). We told him that
he could always feel that way if he was baptized. I loved it. The boy is part of a family where each parent goes to a different church and he goes to a different church from both of them.
Another man we are teaching is a retired policeman. At first I was pretty nervous about teaching him because he’s a big guy and I didn't want to upset him, but he loves to learn about the church and is reading the Book of Mormon so that’s pretty sweet.
Another lesson we taught was to the children of one old man we contacted and taught. I knew that he had traveled but I felt like we should go to his house anyway so we went there and 2 of his kids (20+ years) answered and were excited to see us. They said their father was talking about 2 white missionaries that came over and were
teaching him about the Book of Mormon and they wanted to learn more about it. They bother ended up committing to baptism which was sweet.
Then we taught the young boy on Sunday. He's only 11 and last time week taught him about Joseph Smith and so when we came back we asked him what we talked about and he knew everything. He recited to us exactly what happened in the first vision even that God and Jesus Christ had bodies that Joseph could touch. He's so smart!
So the week started hard but ended fantastically. The water is still not running yet but I don't mind it anymore. Every morning I go out and draw water for the apartment for everyone to shower, wash dishes and to flush the toilet. It's my morning exercise. I really don't mind not having running water; the only bad part is the bathroom gets stinky. I decided the best thing of this new apartment is actually having a toilet seat. You never know how much you miss one of those until you don't have one for 5 months haha. I love toilet seats.
Training is going great. Elder R. is a great missionary. I love him. I love to work with him. We have a great time. We started a bucket list. Every day at the end of our planning we add something to the bucket list.
